Soy Oil Base Varnish

Application

An inexpensive varnish base for many black and colored paint applications.

Properties

Will impart a high gloss to final coating. Gilsonite resin functions as a resin and also contributes to coloration. Will provide excellent weatherability characteristics and is ideal for exterior applications.

Formulation/Method of Manufacture 10% Soy Oil 40% Gilsonite Resin 50% Rule 66 Exempt Mineral Spirits (33 KB)

1. Heat Soy Oil and Gilsonite to 350°F (175°C)

2. Hold for two (2) hours.

3. Add Mineral Spirits under reflux conditions.
